The opening of a trade center in Bushehr in 1763 by the British East India's Company led to the establishment of relations between Iran and England in Zandieh Era, During this period, in addition to trade, the necessity for security in the southern coasts and the lack of a competent navy to obtain this aim led the Iranian rulers to make ties and relations with the main powers in the region in order to make a powerful navy for Iran. The lack of cooperation by the British and the support which Karim Khan made for Bani Kab tribe that was a main threat for the trade interests of the British led to some conflicts between Iran and England. Finally, the English left Bushehr in 1769. Although the emphasis which Karim Khan put on trade and the stagnation of trade in Basrah – as the main center of British trade in the Persian Gulf – and the Iranian invasion of Basrah, paved the way for the reestablishment of ties between the two countries, the death of Karim Khan and the civil conflicts which followed his death, led to crisis and stagnations in the relations between the two countries, except for very few cases.
