چکیده

در مقاله حاضر، نقوش بافته‌شده بر پارچه‌های نفیس صفوی در قالب تاریخی مرتبط بررسی خواهد شد و بر این پایه، صفویان در مذاکرات‌ خود به منظور تأمین سلاح گرم برای ایران، به افسانة کشف آتش به دست هوشنگ‌شاه استناد کرده بودند. نقوش هوشنگ در حال کشتن اژدها بر پارچه‌های ابریشمی، ربع سوم قرن شانزدهم میلادی، مراحل مختلف این مأموریت دیپلماتیک را بازتاب می‌دهد و تصاویر موجود در این پارچه‌ها و هدایا برای دو طرف معنادار بود. در هیچ اسناد نوشتاری از دورة صفوی به تصاویر بافته‌شده بر پارچه‌ها اشاره‌ای نشده و تنها راه بررسی فرضیه‌های این پژوهش، مطالعه تمام موضوعات نقش شده بر پارچه‌ها و ارائه تفسیر مفهومی احتمالی از آنها در بافت تاریخی مرتبط است.
