Abstract

Akaki .M. Khoshtaria, a Georgian national launched his economic activities in Iran with establishing a company titled after his own name. Khoshtaria gained the concession of exploitation of the northern forest of Iran granted with the support provided by Russian government as well as the interceding of Iranian authorities including Mirza Mohammad Khane Vakilabadi. Following the granting of the above concession, a considerable number of Iran’s northern forests trees were logged and sent to Russia. Pursuant to the Russian revolution and subsequently the independence of Georgia in 1918, the above mentioned activities continued up to 1921 and even thereafter. The current article intends to examine the particulars and modes of economic activities of Khoshtaria in the northern forests of Iran.
