Indian subcontinent is among the lands with vast Gilani immigrant communities where they could find a safe haven for their political development and religious excellence. Power rivalries during the Mongol, Turkmens and Safavid eras which brought about the end of the ruling Gilani family, coupled with the delicate land of India with its huge immeasurable wealth, motivated famous Gilanis, namely Jamal al-Din Gilani, Khajeh Mahmoud Gilani and Hazin Lahiji, to migrate to India. The article seeks to study the contribution of Gilani immigrants to the promotion of Iranian customs and traditions, Islamic sects and the expansion of commerce and political relations between the two countries.
