India was considered as one of the border neighbor of Iran in Safavid dynasty. Ottoman in the west and Uzbek in the northeast were the other two neighbors of Iran. In terms of religion, these three countries were not of the same type with Safavid. So, religious heterogeneity increased the challenges along with the territorial disputes which caused some long-term wars to break out between Iran and Ottoman and Uzbek. However, the relations between Iran and India have been friendly in spite of some disputes in Ghandehar and religious heterogeneity. It seems that along with other factors such as supporting measures of Shah Ismail from Baber as well as Shah Tahmasb support from Homayun who played a key role in shaping and continuousness of friendly ties, active diplomacy of Shah Abbas and his innovation in accelerating and increasing the political exchanges and friendly correspondences, have had a great effect on continuity and promotion of the friendly correspondences. This article attempts to investigate the importance and the effect of the correspondences in Shah Abbas period in shaping and stabilizing the friendly relations between Iran and India. It also considers the exchange of the ambassadors and the effect of the situations and the conditions in the kind and the text of the correspondences. So, the main question of the article is that whether or not the political correspondences and the content of the exchanged letters had a great effect in regulating the interactions of Shah Abbas with Indian court?
