Selaniki's history is among the main Ottoman history texts which was written by Mustafa Afandi Selaniki at the end of the tenth decade. This work encompasses the events which occurred in 37 years (A.H.971-1008). During these 37 years the relations between Iran and the Ottomans were full of protracted wars and struggles and short periods of peace. The Selaniki's history, in addition to its importance for the history of the Ottomans and the Europeans is also important for the Safavids. The presence of Selaniki in attacking Iran, his appointment as a host of Hiedar Mirza, and the special host of Khās Khan and Ahmad Gillani and his presence in the Ottoman king houses in the feasts for Iranian Ilchis and his knowledge of the negotiations of the delegates of the two countries are important factors.
The present article attempts to discuss some of the events related to the Safavid and Ottoman kings during (A.H. 971-1008). This study also deals with the place and importance of the history of Selaniki in the studies related to the history of Iran in the Safavid era.
