At the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the early 20th century, among the tribes that were involved in the trade of weapon, one can enumerate the Afghans and a group of Baluchs. At first, the Afghans were involved in this trade; however, as the English pressed and attempted to stop the Afghans, they began to use the Baluch tribes that lived in Makran coast. Since the weapons were given to the anti-British tribes in India, on the excuse of preventing the trade of weapons, England made some measures to prevent it in both regional and international scale.
The present article deals with the trade and smuggling of weapons by Afghans, the Baluches and the measures taken by the English which brought a great deal of problems for the central government of Iran. The sources for this study were provided by the Archive center of the documents and the diplomatic history at Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
